The smell of the place drive you crazy I love it!

Irish Hawg made me so happy! The addition of the thin sliced smoked sausage along with smoked corned beef was mouth watering! The brisket is paper thin and very flavorful. Would definitely come back for the Irish Hawg. Its their play on a Reuban. It is huge!

Best burnt ends in Kansas City.

Some of the best BBQ in KC. They have an excellent rub and sauce you can take home. A must place to eat!

Awesome hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint. Service was top notch in a post-covid world. Got the sampler, and every meat was amazing. Will definitely recommend to others for lesser known KC BBQ!

Another satisfied big truck driver . I’m from Texas where BBQ is a big deal. Well guess what, I’ve heard of brisket but never “ Burnt Ends “ I’m talking tender and spicy if you want not to mention the Slaw Dog . I can’t give it all up, but I will say one thing. DELICIOUS great food and great service. Just like the Terminator I’ll be back.

Love this place so much! And to my surprise, they were open inside which was great because I always prefer eating in. Tables spaced good too.

Place is delicious!

I love Burnt ends and they definitely did not disappoint! They were really juicy and tender and I almost felt ashamed to dip them in there house BBQ sauce. The burnt end chili was also REALLY good and hearty! The chili did come loaded with cheese and chives so if you do not like that ask them to hold it.I've never seen corned beef at a BBQ joint before and had to try that as well and it was very good but just a little dry. The brisket and turkey was also a like dry but had good smoked flavor. We will certainly be eating there again!!

The burnt ends here are like little pieces of heaven making love to your tongue. We don't get to KC very often and given the number of BBQ choices here to say this is number one without a doubt says it all. We will be back again, and again, and again!

This is my second visit to the Hawg Jaw and they did not disappoint. The burnt ends are nothing short of amazing. They literally melt in your mouth, I have lived in KC and Wichita since 2002 and as a consequence have eaten at several BBQ restaurants due to the fact I love this stuff! I am a self confessed carnivore, Hawg Jaw is my numero uno (NUMBER ONE) recommended place to eat in KC. I have tried several different BBQ places, some well known others not so much, but this place just serves absolute excellence on a plate, it doesn't come any better than this!

I don’t even do reviews, but this is the best bar b que I’ve had in Kansas City. the spicy and sweet bbq sauce is heat!!! Everything on me and my girls plate is really good.

Absolutely fantastic, everything about this place is incredible. Yes their burnt ends are THE best.

We first ate at Hawg Jaw a couple of years ago. Back when we started our KC BBQ Tour. 60+ places later, we re-visited because I remembered liking it, but it was before I started reviewing consistently on Google. The burnt ends are large cubes of brisket vs. authentic burnt ends, but they have a very deep smoke and are very lean. I miss the bark and I do like a little fat for the moisture, generally. Not to say these were dry. Many reviews of the brisket were that it was moist. I experienced it as over-cooked and slightly dry. I think they slice it too thin, and it could maintain moisture better if they didn't. I had the onion rings which I rarely order fried food and it was a huge serving and they were really crispy. The beans had a little meat in them and were pretty good, but not in the running for the best beans in KC. Kurt had french fries, which are battered, seasoned, and crispy; as well as the sweet potato fries, which are served with marshmallow (and he did not use that). I like the smoked ketchup, it was an excellent pairing to the onion rings. I had the spicy sauce which was not spicy and was a little sweet. It's not a thick sauce like a lot of KC places. (I have no preference on consistency, I judge based on my personal taste/the flavor.) Jason had the brisket BBQ nachos. I very much appreciate that masks are required (I hope they do this regardless of local laws), they have markers for social distancing while standing in line to order your food, and the area for picking up your food is large enough that you can have your space. Tables are spaced apart, sauces, etc are now in single-servings vs. self-serve, utensils are disposable. I do not like that they are using Styrofoam for their cups and for serving their beans. I wish they'd use something less negatively impactful on our planet. I didn't order a drink because of this. There is street parking, the entrance is semi-accessible. They do have a ramp or steps up to the ordering area, but the ramp is very steep and not ADA compliant. Would be an extreme challenge for a person to push themselves in a wheelchair or to push someone else in a wheelchair or stroller. But with the space they have, I still admire the effort. Restrooms are on the same floor level as the dining tables.

Different spin on an old-style food everything is excellent my favorite is the burnt end chili
00:09 20 Jun 20
Glad to see them open for eat in lunch. I had a brisket & ham sandwich, fries & beans. Sandwich & fries were excellent. Beans were ok. Maybe it was the sauce in them, just a flavor I did not care for. Not much meat in them either. It had been a long time between visits. I will go again.

Food was terrific! Fill up your hand sanitizer dispenser and wipe down the tables please!😊

This is a ok spot if you haven't had the other bbq in the city. Meat was dry. Doesn't compare to other places in the metro area.
Hawg Jaw...Some of the BEST BBQIN ALL OF KANSAS CITY...!!!!!!Had it the other night...Wife had a succulent Turkey Sandwich and I had for the 1st time, though I've had it before separately, an Italian Sausage & Turkey Sandwich with theirSweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce...And it was truly a great sandwich...!!!!Thank you to the Silvio Brothers for another greatBBQ Joint in North KC...!!!!!!!!!!
I had a medium burnt and sandwich with buffalo slaw. The best smoked meat needs no sauce. The sauce was very good, but definitely not needed. It only made the experience better! Such great flavor and tender texture to the meat. I will be back for sure! Thanks to Nick and the Hawg Jaw crew for some great kc barbecue!
We are here today and let me tell you, the burnt ends are delicious! They are super tender, and they have an amazing crust on some of them that is delicious! I would definitely go back! And to top it off there is a brewery right next to it. Beer, BBQ, repeat!
Passing through on our trip to the SCA World Cookoffs in Fort Worth TX. Had to sample some KC style ribs! Got ribs, seasoning and sampled 4 sauces. Also visited your competitor down the road. Our opinion-you win. Hands down. Great [email protected]
Grew up in Kansas City, always thought Bryants or Gates was where you went to get good BBQ, not any more, Hawg Jaw cooks BBQ like you should. Ribs are fantastic. You don't need the sauce, but 3 are available, great food.
Really good Brisket sandwich! Can’t wait to try your burnt ends since that’s what you are know for. All four of your sauces is really good and large portions of sides is right on. Good job Hawg Jaw can’t wait until my next visit 👍
Stopped in for the first time at lunch today. I had a burnt end and sausage combo sandwich with fries. Added some of their awesome slaw on top of the sandwich. The burnt ends and sliced sausage were so freakin’ good and the Seasoned Fries may be the best in KC... good stuff.
Best BBQ in KC hands down. Went this weekend and the burnt ends chilli cheese fries made me think I died and went to heaven. Their BBQ had the best flavor without having to sauce it. the kids rib plate is huge and you don't feel like you left feeling like you didn't get enough. will be back soon
The loaded fries are the best fries in KC. The crew there are really nice and super friendly. I was there last night. It was refreshing to see the crew with smiles on their faces. They looked like they were having fun. I've ordered other stuff there too. Not a bad item on the menu.
Went there because KC channel 5 said it was a great place. They were absolutely right !! Had 1/2 slab of ribs with beans. This is served with 2 slices of Texas toast. Awesome meal with great service. We will definitely go back.
There’s only one problem... I would like to try another entree... BUT the Burnt End are so good... I order them every time I’m there!!! Also the last 2 years in a row, my family ordered the smoked turkey for Thanksgiving... This will be year number 3!!!
The Buffalo Burnt End sandwich was the best sandwich I have ever crammed down my gullet. I am 99% certain that my tongue had 3 orgasms while I was feasting on that meaty chunk of heaven! Cheesy corn:on point. Beans: legit. All the meats....well let's just say that this place is more awesome than a robot-caveman punching god in the junk!
Great meals! First time to visit and will be back to try other menu items. We had the rune rib and it was perfect. I thought the atmosphere to be casual and relaxed. Service is good as you do not have table serve but order from the counter which is typical K.C. BBQ style. Only complaint was the parking of which there is little of and we ride the motorcycle.
Great Tasting BBQ with or without their sauces. All 3 sauces and their smoked ketchup were outstanding tasting to. Had ribs and chicken. The ribs had more meat on them than most other BBQ’s and the chicken was very moist. I’m going back soon!!!
Have gone to this restaurant since it was in Riverside. My husband and I usually have our Friday evening dinners at Hawg Jaws. He has to have their Prime Rib meal every Friday. He will not eat anyone else's Prime rib. I have tried almost everything on the menu and I can not really pick a favorite because they are all so good. I was so delighted that they moved to North Kansas City. Although they were closer in Riverside my husband and I would drive 30 minutes or more if we had to. I always tell people that talk BBQ if they haven't tried Hawg Jaws they should. Most have said hands down it it their new favorite BBQ now.
Really good bbq in the Northland. I've had burnt ends sandwich and 1/2 slab of ribs here, both excellent. Seasoned fries both times were great. Nice selection of bottled beers to choose from. Great "go-to" place if you find yourself in NKC.
Very nice staff and a laid back atmosphere. I love their sauces, everyone of them! Yum! Cheesy corn is off the charts delish. I had a BBQ beef and turkey sandwich with Boss Man's sauce...so, so good and what made it even better was the pickles....You must try the pickles!!! They are the best ever. Pick up some bottled sauce to take home....Get ya' some!!!! I'm so happy this BBQ gem is located up the street!
First off, I'll get my complaint out of the way. It moved from the Riverside location which was much closer to me, but I understand that was more on Riverside. I still wish it was the ten minutes away, rather than the 15-20.Now that that's out of the way, I'm not sure if this place is underrated, underappreciated, or just not that many people know about it. Nothing on the menu is bad, although, and this is a Kansas City thing, I've never understood ham on a BBQ menu.I'd put their ribs against any other ribs in the city, same with their burnt ends. Both are amazing. The smoked turkey is excellent.Tonight, I had the smoked chicken, and it might be the best thing on the menu. The skin was crispy and perfectly seasoned, while the meat was tender and juicy. I can't believe I hadn't had it before. Everyone should go to Hawg Jaw. It's one of Kansas City's very best.
My husband and I stopped by for some Ribs. They were very good, fall off the bone tender. The service was fast and courteous. Highly recommend a visit here for BBQ. This was our second visit. The other time we had their beef sandwich which was also delicious.
Tom and the kitchen crew make you feel welcome into the establishment. The meat isn't sauces which honestly, you don't even have to. If you're new start with the sampler plate. All of it was amazing and deliciously smoked. The burnt ends weren't fatty but not too lean and even the brisket/beef was smoked and not over cooked and wasn't super dry. This place is in my top five, from my own personal BBQ tour and I'll be back very soon.Ya'll made me love bbq again, thanks
I see this place being the next great name of Kansas City BBQ! Beef brisket tender and savory. Ribs lip smacking good! Potato salad, coleslaw, beans, mac n cheese...all so wonderfully made and tasty. I'm hooked.
We ordered online to pickup. The food was on point! 👌👌 We ordered the pulled pork, beans, brisket sandwich, and sweet potato fries. There's a savory component in the sauces that makes it stand out from other BBQ restaurants in the city. 5/5 would do again.
First, expect a cafeteria style experience. You serve yourself and bus yourself. That Friday night prime rib. Jasper Mirabile recommended on the Kansas City Eats group, and Ohmygosh, it was fantastic. Worth it
The last time I ate at the Hawg it was still in Riverside. So I decided to swing by for lunch today. I got there around 11:2o and the line was out the door. It took about fifteen minutes to get to the window and place my order. I ordered the Irish Hawg! How could I order anything else with St Patty's two days away. The sandwich was great. I just love the combo of smoked meats with sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing. From the time I got there until I walked out the door it was about 40 minutes. So those of you on a tight lunch break might want to keep that in mind.
This was the best BBQ we've had. The staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. Loved the food. Hands down one of the best BBQ joints I've been to. The burnt end sandwich was amazing & the seasoned fries are so good & you get a good amount of them! My kids loved the chicken fingers as well!
Don't overlook this hidden gem. Burnt ends were awesome. These guys don't hide their que in a bunch of sauce.Perfectly seasoned and melt in your mouth delicious. Be sure to try Their smoked Mac and cheese it is amazing
Been to some larger fancy BBQ places, that was totally terrible. Every time I come to Riverside I have to go there at least 2 times. Been to the Carolinas, Alabama, Texas. No place compares. We do competition BBQ in Michigan, this is as good as what we turn in
First time here today. In one word FANTASTIC! Best pulled pork sandwich of my life. Loved the Maamos spicy sauce. I think you guys could move down to OP and make a killing. A Logan's Roadhouse closed and is available at 135th and 69 highway. Just sayin!
Went this past Friday night for the prime rib and they were already out at 7:10pm. That was ok because they advertise that they serve it intil they run out. Bottomline, get there early for that! I had the prime rib french dip instead and the meat melted on my tongue. Pat had the sampler of some sort and I got to try it all too - fabulous meats! Slaw is tasty. Love the ketchup and spicy sauce too.
Tried the brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, beans, and cheesy corn. It was all great! I enjoyed the BBQ sauce, as well. Burnt ends were exactly what you expect, and delicious! Price was on point, as well. Will definitely be coming back!
We had lunch here the day before Thanksgiving. I had an Italian Hawg; it was huge and delicious with a spicy kick! The second half reheated beautifully wrapped in foil in the oven two days later... Here it is day three we made a Thanksgiving leftover bowl and decided to layer in the remainder of our Hawg Jaw cheesy corn... It was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! Cheesy corn is now going to be ON the table for Christmas dinner!! So so SO Good!!
Had a group of out of town folks have a pic nic with the Hawg Jaw food. Wow was it GREAT!!!!Will make it a point to tell all my friends who travel through KC to stop in and enjoy your great food. Thank You..... From all of us...
So we just ate at this place. Amazing burnt ends, pulled pork, ham, fried pickles, and BBQ beans. Their sauce was so good we bought a bottle and took it home. I don't know if it was just because we came on a Tuesday night, but it wasn't very busy. Pretty quick service and nice employees. I'd never heard of it, but I'm glad I came.
I love hawg jaw BBQ. There ribs are among the best in Kansas city and the brisket is even better(my wife who isn't a BBQ eater even loves the brisket). If you haven't tried this little hole in the wall treasure you are missing out!
Had a fabulous experience today at Hawg Jaw Fritz! The ribs were excellent, and so were the barbecue beans. As a unexpected plus, the seasoned French fries were piping hot and the best I've tasted in a decade. Favorite of their signature sauces: Bossman'sEnjoyed chatting with Kim and with owner Nick Silvio, who I learned also ℅-owns another wonderful restaurant, Em Chamas Brazilian Grill.Overall, Terrific experience! We will be back sometime soon with friends to try the "Hog Trough" Sampler, which includes just about every kind of meat that they offer.
I love the food here at Hogg jaw Fritx . The BBQ is the best I have ever had and I also loveeeeeeeee the onion rings. Wish I had some right now. They Aldo sell an excellent. BBQ sauce. Yummy. I love the sauce with lots of different foods as well.
